Once you play more you are able to do everything a bit faster, get a base going with a wall that has spikes around it, and you will want to have a crossbow at least, take out the screamer first and the rest are pretty easy to clear out. I like to stand on top of my house and shoot over the wall.

Go straight to Youtube and search the same exact subject !

People can offer all the tactics thye want but seeing it and how it works is the best way to learn anything.

Practice, practice, practice....

Best done in a SP game, where you can play with the settings to your hearts content until you are comfortable with hordes :)

The already given advice is good - You could also find a town or go to city at 0.0 cords and hold up on top of a sturdy structure. Unlike Yam, i recomend MP and trying to group up. Power in numbers is always a good thing.

Which ever you do, walls with 2-3 rows of log spikes and a row of normal spikes will ward off most hordes. Good luck!

Thanks I'll watch some vids on YouTube and try and build a decent fort agains them

building your own base that can survive even the 1st 7day feral horde can be daunting. especially to a new player.

probably your best bet is to find a pre-fab building of brick or better, , seal up the lower windows and doors, put a ladder up to the roof(no lower rung), place a zombie lip even with the 2nd floor and place 1 row of fully upgraded wood log spikes with 3 rows of wood spikes.

that should see you through the 1st 2 hordes atleast.

and dont bother shooting at them. walk around on the zombie lip. the zombies will follow you, killing themselves on the spikes.

watch some kage848, his videos fill in your newbie needs :3

im up for a challenge:steammocking:

Another question. How many times can you upgrade the wodden frame and is it 10 wood every upgrade

I actually grabbed one of those fishing huts in the middle of the lake on the default map. Was easily able to hold out there until around the 20th night with little or no modifications to it. Then they started taking out the supports holding it up. Over the next few days I build and relocated to a bunker I build at the shoreline. Tunnelled a fair ways into the bedrock and expanded out from there.

I constructed a few kill traps, floor panels in front of doors that when lifted lead into deep pits with spikes at the bottom. Even if the zombies don't die they are trapped down there until I finish them off.

Take over an old house (the one with a balcony is ideal) and block the windows up. Surround it with wood spikes and stand up in the balcony raining arrows down until they're all dead.

Put torches around the base of the house so you can see them as you're shooting them.
If they do get into the house then make sure to have chopped out the staircase so they can't get to you.

The first horde's easy so make sure to take your time.

You can upgrade wood frames all the way up to concrete and whatever the heck is above it, costs wood the first few times then add in scrap iron and other things

Die a few times to the 7 day hordes, then restart a random game. It'll give you a better understanding of the game mechanics than trying to survive into the hundreds of days for the first few goes.

Once you're used to the mechanics I'd then suggest trying to build your own structures. The physics system is great, especially if you have any previous Minecraft experience. It's a lot deeper in every respect.

Sorry but that is bad advice. A newbie player during the first week should stay away from towns and especially the city at 0,0. Your goal is to survive not to confront zombies.

With crap armor, crap weapon, no weapon skill and 100 health or less the spawn rate in a town will kill most players. The city at 0,0 also has dogs, hornets and fat policemen which would all be a big problem for a newbie. Save the towns for weeks 2 or 3 and the city at 0,0 for weeks 4 or 5.

An isolated walled building that is on a gravel road off from a paved road is good. Fortify that with wood. Save your metal for your constructed base.

Remember you need to kill the horde so walls by themselves will only delay your death. You need spikes outside the walls or a shooting perch or both. Don't forget lots of ammo.
